About

The virtual mould library aims to show the interest of basketry on mould for creation and to encourage new collaborations between designers and basket makers.

The 3D printed mold provides a concrete form for the basket maker to follow. As such, it constitutes both a material support allowing the accuracy of the expected result and a communication tool between the designer and the basket maker (it is not necessary to know how to read a complex plan, no misunderstanding between the languages of each other). The virtual mold library shows traditional molds and designer projects, as many demonstrators of the creative interest of mold-based basketry. Each project is presented with its mold and the piece of basketwork.

This platform allows the consultation :

  • Photographs and various documents concerning moulds and basketry work
  • Instruction manuals for the design of moulds compatible with basketry skills
  • Information on the different weavings, tools and basketry techniques
